The much anticipated headliner of Queer Sphere Expo 2019 was the one and only Chad Michaels, the only Cher-approved Cher impersonator in the world and winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars!
Fans and Ottawans alike anticipated Chad’s arrival for months and attendees at the official Queer Sphere Expo After Party were not disappointed when Chad took the stage after a hilarious showcase of local LGBT stand-up comedians.
In true Cher fashion, Chad opened his first set with Cher’s hit female empowerment song, Woman’s World, adorned in a glowing gold gown and huge matching head-dress. Being the premiere Cher impersonator in the world, one might expect that Chad would rest on his laurels and perform only Cher’s iconic hits from the past but that would be remiss because Chad performed a medley of Cher’s brand new Abba covers and even had exact replicas of the costumes and wigs that the real Cher wears!
It really is difficult to tell the difference between the two and not only in appearance, but in physical movements and energy too- Chad has everything about the Dark Lady nailed down pat. What’s more, Chad took time on stage to address the crowd and speak out about the important work the Queer Sphere Expo is doing and encouraged everybody to work together to spread the message of love, acceptance and inclusion!
